World Alzheimer’s Day 2018
Devonshire Dementia Care Home and Devonshire Dementia Cay Centre jointly celebrated World Alzheimer’s Day with a Special Afternoon Tea on the 21st September
On an unseasonably warm 21st September 2018, we held an afternoon tea for World Alzheimer’s Day that Residents and Advocates really enjoyed. Lots of people commented that, it brought back memories of visiting the 1950s Lyons Tea Rooms with their parents. Residents really enjoyed the hot and savoury snacks, especially the tempura prawns and the chicken samosas. It was such a delight to see how much everyone enjoyed them!
Residents and their families were also really charmed by the delicate, mismatched china tea sets with gingham napkins – as well as the lovely sandwiches, cream tea jam and scones and the beautiful cakes. Veronica, Ruth and Audrey especially fell in love with the inviting cake stands layered with gorgeous food. And Maggie B let us all know that the cakes tasted as delicious as they looked.
Jeanette, summed up the afternoon’s mood quite nicely when she exclaimed, ‘This teacup is so beautiful with all its lovely patterns. I can’t believe how lovely and warm I feel even though I am sat in the garden.’
