HAPPY 100TH DOT!
Dolores L, or ‘Dot’ as she’s affectionately known, turned 100 on Sunday 5th May and became our second centenarian of 2024! A joyous occasion fitting for a true life and soul of a party, this big Birthday was celebrated with a huge honour as she received her letter from King Charles II with gentle poise. Having rolled out the metaphorical red carpet for her royal welcome, positive and happy words from Buckingham Palace were complete with a signature, much to Dot’s delight. Dot, who always says ‘Family is the most important thing’, was joined by her loved ones as she continued to party in our Day Centre. We’re happy to report that Dot had the day that she deserved and we hope that each day continues to be an amazing adventure!
Proving age is just a number, Dot is truly one of a kind!
ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY ANNUAL CONFERENCE
On Tuesday 14th May, we were delighted to attend the Alzheimer’s Society Annual Conference during Dementia Action Week. With an estimated 980,000 people living with dementia expected to rise to 1.6 million by the year 2040, the importance of health, exercise and the horizon of disease modifying drugs was at the forefront of discussions. To provide further insight, Sir Chris Witty (Chief Medical Officer For England) discussed the importance of a fast and effective dementia diagnosis to support family carers.
BIRTHDAYS
We also celebrated the Birthday of Veronica! She had a lovely day spent with family and our care team.
SPRING BBQ
Our BBQ served up many more treats as Ginette tilted her fabulous hat our way. Margaret R shone with a Spring glow as she opted for shade under our umbrellas. Geoffrey and his loved ones dazzled in a brilliant image, as he wore his cap backwards for the occasion. Jill and Albert smile in the courtyard, and we were graced by the presence of our ‘paw-some’ sidekick Percy, who Veronica loved!
DEMENTIA WORKSHOP
Our Residents and Day Guests love to take a ‘trip’ to our vintage-inspired market stall. From the warm familiarity of Beatrice doing the ‘weekly shop’ to the wholesome ways in which Kathleen and Irene can be seen choosing our ever popular crisps selection, which was a sweet moment to savour.
