Life at the Devonshire in May

The beginning of May was very very hot with scorching temperatures into the high 80’s. Residents enjoyed time in the garden having afternoon tea and ice-lollies. Valerie, John, Ruth B, Jeanette, Teresa, and Muriel all commented on how beautiful the garden was with all the lovely flowers, herbs and trees. Anne W, Brenda J, Joyce, Margaret G and Pat A really enjoyed their ice-lollies whilst relaxing in the sunshine.

Residents Rosemary, Ruth B, Veronica, Pat W, Valerie, Peggy and Muriel all visited an Imagination Café at University of West London for people living with Dementia. They sat and had tea and lots of creative foods such as beetroot and goat's cheese puffs, cream of mackerel finger sandwiches, white chocolate mousse with a rhubarb topping and scones with jam and cream. Our Residents were not sure about some of the flavours they were tasting but they did try everything. After our Residents had eaten they took a walk around the café to view all the objects on display. There was a table that was full of smells memorabilia from Boots the chemist. Peggy remembered the smell of a perfume her mother used to wear called ‘Lilly of the Valley’. Veronica was not keen on the smell of ‘Carbolic Soap’.
