BIRTHDAYS

Every day is special, but on the 25th of this month, we celebrated not only Joan’s but also Jacqueline’s Birthdays! With double the celebration, both Residents had a great day enjoying their favourite activities as they spent time with our care team and their loved ones.

‘THE HAPPINESS PROGRAMME’

Brenda and Joan enjoy their favourite games in our fun filled Day Centre!

Our brand new ‘Magic Table’ is an interactive projector that has beamed fresh hope for our Residents. Part of the ‘Happiness Programme’ – we were kindly loaned this upon discovering its entertainment, calming and interactive benefits and it has provided loads of joy during fun filled afternoons. Socially stimulating games such as air hockey was too good for even our staff to resist and Balloon pop inflated our spirits as we engaged in fun and friendly competition. Jacqui cheekily said: ‘I must be getting better!’ and Irene, after winning the game, asked: ‘Do you think I’m good?’

The only way was up for Jacqui and Irene who worked as a team to score points!

Kathleen H was joined by her niece, who had so many options to choose from.

MOMENTS OF MUSICAL and SINGING JOY!

The Devonshire welcomed Jane Burgess. A talented musician who performed many classic songs from decades gone by. Music can have a powerful way of promoting positive feelings when connecting with other people. Florence (pictured top left) epitomises a ‘moment’ of joy, as she burst into song before saying ‘You do such a good job!’ Music can generate feel-good hormones and release endorphins that may improve a person’s mental capability such as attention, concentration, cognitive thinking and memory. Kathleen (pictured bottom left) waves at Ginette (bottom right) saying: ‘Oh I’ve seen you here before’ whilst the latter is visibly soothed by the power of music.

SAD FAREWELLS

Our Residents are our best teachers, who have helped us to celebrate present moments and cherish the past. We feel honoured to have had the privilege to care for each and every special Resident. From endless sweet moments to bringing us wisdom, fun and joy, we will miss you all. We really enjoyed getting to know not only the Residents, but their whole families! The Devonshire hope you can reflect on your time with us with as much fondness as we do. Please always stay in touch.

sad farewells

We bid a sad farewell to Peter, Barbara F, Barbara R and Eileen S, who passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families at this sad time.
