August NEWSLETTER 2024
Amazing August
Gorgeous Gardens
Following a rainy July, we were in awe of August’s comeback to the sunshine as all our Residents’ days were made as we took to ice lollies and relaxed in shade. The dynamic duo of Cathy and Janet added another pair to their ace afternoon as they topped the pack with a round of tea (or two) with Jacqui and Christine. From taking a stroll into the Devonshire Lyons Tea Room to purposeful activities like watering the plants, Ginette and Beatrice were delighted at the vibrance of our outdoor setting.
DOG THERAPY
PhoDOGraphy was back at the Devonshire, as one of our family members brought their pooch for their afternoon visit! Terry channelled his inner Crufts to go for a walkies around the lounge. Annette was overjoyed, saying: ‘can I, can I?’ – in reference to being able to stroke the dog. Margaret R (whilst at first hesitant) was gently encouraged and, eventually held the hand of this ‘paw-some’ creature.
SINGING GROUP & COFFEE MORNING
Our Wednesday Singing Group & Coffee Morning’s welcomed the community with open arms as our Residents and Day Guests took to the dance floor. Christine embraced Larry with a warm hug before saying: ‘It’s just nice to be here’. Florence didn’t miss a beat as she clapped away and, epitomising the mid-week magic, our ecstatic group took to the music with ease.
Our brand NEW Singing Group Attendee Alistair not only sang ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary!’ with passion, but asked for many more requests to our delight. Irene said: ‘Do you like me? Because I LOVE you’ before offering a warm embrace. If that wasn’t enough of a musical treat, after the Singing Group, Charles loves to entertain us with some piano skills in our Day Centre.
OLYMPIC GAMES
We ‘relayed’ so much joy as we made a fast start towards Olympic spirit! Lighting a metaphorical torch for fun and games, we all felt like winners already as our Day Centre ‘championed’ arts and crafts. Appropriately ‘connected’ - Janet showcased her colourful and symbolic rings. Sol passionately said: ‘I will be supporting Spain!’ whilst Jacqui cheekily said: ‘Oh, I better get stretching then’.
